YOGA WITH HANNAH
"Yoga teaches you to love yourself, starting with the body." -Pujya Swami Dayananda
I acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land where I live, teach, and practice.
The Kaurna, Ramindjeri, and Ngarrindjeri people laid claim to this land we now call the "Fleurieu Peninsula," and sovereignty has never been ceded. It is and always will be Aboriginal land. I pay my respects to elders past, present, and emerging and am committed to learning and listening, so I can move with more understanding through this shared history into a more inclusive future.

About Hannah
Hi there! I'm Hannah, and I'm so glad you are here.
I am originally from Nashville, TN but moved permanently to Australia in 2014. I live with my husband and 3 boys in a small town on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. And I love calling this place home.
I have been practicing yoga for over 14 years, and have enjoyed teaching for the past four. I have completed trainings in Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Yoga. However, my most recent trainings in Supreme Release Yoga (ŚRY) from my beautiful teacher Kaya Mindlin have had great impact on both my personal practice and current teaching style. With a more therapeutic approach, my classes focus on slowing down, inner listening, releasing the muscles along the whole spine, and a deep letting go that leads to the nourishment of the whole body.
As my teacher Kaya says, "This is not a work out, but a work in."
About ŚRY (Supreme Release Yoga)
ŚRY (pronounced Shree) is a Yoga Āsana practice that uses specific poses that angle into and release tension along the central axis of the body, the spine. In the Vedic tradition, the spine is considered the conduit of consciousness and the column of prāna (sacrad vitality). But when there is tension here, there are blockages/obstructions to the flow of nourishment, prāna, and soma nectar. When we release and soften the muscles and tissues attached to the vertebrae, from the tailbone to the crown, the spine is decompressed and the nourishment just naturally flows in. Through this process we can experience healing, rejuvenation, transformation and ultimately Self-awareness.
This approach to Yoga is accessible yet deep. It is not about entertainment, performance, or competition. There is no over-stretching, pushing or forcing the body into extreme angles, but rather it is an inward-oriented journey to our more subtle layers. With an emphasis on surrender, letting go, and softening, this practice helps to slow down the body and settle the mind. I am very grateful to have trained in this form of Yoga Āsana with my teacher Kaya Mindlin, and love sharing it's depth and nourishment with you.
